Last Tuesday, May 15, the last novel by the Cuban writer Leonardo Padura, La Transparency del tiempo, was presented at the Pedro Arrupe theater of the Loyola Center.<\/p>\n

With the presence of the author and a panel of renowned Cuban intellectuals such as: Jos\u00e9 A Michelena (writer, journalist and editor), Roberto M\u00e9ndez (poet, essayist and narrator), Rafael Acosta (researcher and essayist), took place this presentation that made it possible to unravel the mazes through which this last novel transits.<\/p>\n

According to the panellists Padura gives us this time a work that relates to the religious atmosphere of contemporary Cuba. The novel, they commented, chronicles the situations that Mario Conde goes through when investigating the disappearance of a Black Virgin, whose image, in the words of Padura, was inspired by the Virgin of Rule.<\/p>\n

The Prince of Asturias Award 2015, and for many the most widely read contemporary Cuban author today, answered several questions asked to him by Rafael Acosta and part of the public, who continued to praise his work. For the famous novelist it is very contrasting that his books are among the most read in much of Latin America, Spain and that they are being translated even into languages of Eastern Europe, while it is impossible for his national followers to obtain one of his books.<\/p>\n

On the other hand he commented on some of the ideas for his next production, which on this occasion wants to approach the diaspora and all that this reality means for Cubans inside and outside the island. With the title, still in consideration, “The Scattered Clan” will try this fabulous writer with our dear Mario Conde to continue to conquer the hearts of those of us who follow his excellent work.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
