With an emotional Thanksgiving Mass, Father Yosvani Carvajal Sureda, pastor of this church and rector of the Padre F\u00e9lix Varela Cultural Center, celebrated in Havana Cathedral the twenty years of ordained a priest.<\/p>\n
“When I look back I am surprised at how fast time passes and everything we have tried to do,” Father Yosvani said in his homily.<\/p>\n
On the afternoon of July 29, 2000 and at the age of twenty-four Yosvani Carvajal became one of the youngest priests ordained in his time in Cuba and Latin America: “God always gives us instruments to call and touch our hearts and I thank God for all those people who made it possible for me to preach today.”<\/p>\n
In his vocation, he explains, the testimony of his parish priest was very important. One day in the church of Los Pinos, located eight kilometers from the center of Havana, a question of the priest he admired so much touched him: “Didn’t you plan to be a priest?”<\/p>\n
The Thanksgiving Mass was also conducive to remembering Cardinal Jaime Ortega. “The figure of the cardinal in my ordination as an instrument of God will always thank him and then he was the father who accompanied me on my walk,” he said.<\/p>\n
After finishing his studies at the Gregorian University in Rome, the cardinal commissioned him the mission of rectoring the Padre F\u00e9lix Varela Cultural Center, work that has consecrated him in the Magisterium and in the accompaniment of young Cubans and dissimilar projects for the common good of society.<\/p>\n
At the end of mass and with tears in his eyes, Fr. Yosvani thanked his mother and father for the support of his mother and father, as well as all the people who constantly collaborate in his mission. \u03a9<\/p>\n
