A musical tour of five centuries of art in the capital city was the proposal of the Cultural Gala organized by the Chair of Sacred Music of the Padre F\u00e9lix Varela Cultural Center and presented at the S.M.I. Cathedral of Havana on the night of November 17.<\/p>\n

At the invitation of the Catholic Church to give a high musical proposal to the Habanera village in its half millennium, outstanding artists responded, among them, Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Vitier, Ern\u00e1n L\u00f3pe-Nussa, the soprano Milagros de los Angeles Castillo, the choirs Schola Cantorum Coralina, Vocal Leo and Exaudi. They were joined by the Havana Lyceum Orchestra, the National Concert Band, the repentants Yenisleydi Gonz\u00e1lez Garc\u00eda and Luis Paz Esquivel, as well as dancers from the Irene Rodr\u00edguez Company and Contemporary Dance of Cuba.<\/p>\n

With the interpretation of the Bayamo Anthem and the compound to San Cristobal, he began the walk through the best of Habanero art, with important stops that included the performance, as a premiere, of a Te Deum composed by Esteban Salas and transcribed centuries later by the musicologist Miriam Escudero and the choreographic representation of the poem by Nicol\u00e1s Guill\u00e9n “Balada de los dos abuelos” , choreographed by teacher Irene Rodriguez.<\/p>\n

The tour covered several exponents of music such as habanera, tenth peasant and zarzuela, in some cases accompanied by dancers who embodied on stage the essence of genres such as shoeing and poetics trapped in the “Goodbye to Cuba” by Ignacio Cervantes, with the piano performance of Marcos Madrigal.<\/p>\n

The talent of the guest artists was added to the freshness of the Schoolings of the Archdiocese of Havana and San Juan de Letr\u00e1n, as well as the professionalism, already exhibited, of the intercommunitarian choir of the diocese, under the direction of Ada Rabelo.<\/p>\n
