With Havana’s return to the epidemic phase, private masses are resumed in the territory. Every Sunday, from Palabra Nueva we will continue to transmit the speech of Cardinal Juan de la Caridad Gacía, Archbishop of the Archdiocese. On this occasion, our pastor part of the text of the Gospel of Matthew 14,22-33, to remind us that from the beginning of Christianity the Church sails in the opposite wind, shaken by the tangle of evil, but continues to sail. “That Jesus walks on the waters,” the cardinal tells us, “means that evil overcomes, and it is also a manifestation that with Him, forgiveness overcomes vengeance; generosity to selfishness; the truth to the lie.”

Jesus Christ, the Word of the Father, tells us today, “Encourage, it is me, do not be afraid.”

Doctor Leal is gone and will no longer walk the streets of Havana, the city “Real and Wonderful”

To the Historian of the City of Havana, Eusebio Leal Spengler, recently deceased, was offered on Wednesday, August 5, a mass in the parish of San Juan de Letrán, in the neighborhood of El Vedado. The religious office, attended by relatives and close collaborators of Leal, was requested by Javier, one of his sons, who was also present.

Today Father Yosvany Carvajal Sureda celebrates his 20th anniversary as a priest. He is parish priest of the Santa Metropolitana Cathedral Church of Havana and rector of the Padre Félix Varela Cultural Center, a place where dialogue with society, with art and education is committed. With regard to these two decades of priesthood, the New Word spoke with this dear priest, accompanied by a leisurely and accurate saying.
