Eusebio Leal Spengler: Born September 11, 1942 in Havana, Cuba. Doctor of Historical Sciences and Master of Archaeological Sciences, City Historian and Director of the Restoration Program, he has distinguished himself in a particular way by driving the restoration works of the Historic Center of Havana, declared by Unesco in 1982 World Heritage Site. He died on July 31, 2020, in the same city to which he gave his best of his being and chores: Havana.

The magazine Palabra Nueva wanted to share the expressions of a group of diverse voices to offer to its readers as a sample of the personal and collective experiences that have been lived in this peculiar and amazing leap year, this twenty-twenty become quarent. Under the title “Notes of the Year of the Covid”, the new series opens up space for chronicle, interview, poetry… in short, to genders where the saying of women, men, young people, children and the elderly will rest. An entrepreneur, a plastic artist, a housewife, a mother, a son… He will also say a bishop and an evangelist. An emigration, a doctor… Everyone will tell how their days have elapsed, how they have faced the challenges, and what reading they make of what happened. Angel Alonso Blanco, Cuban visual artist, art critic and editor, is the first to communicate his experience.
