Today November 27th, the graduation ceremony of the 2019-2020 year of the Nursery “Sister Victoria Benéitez” was held, located in the Cathedral of Havana. The little ones, accompanied by parents and other relatives, received their graduate diplomas from Cardinal Juan de la Caridad García, Archbishop of the Archdiocese, and Father Yosvany Carvajal Sureda, pastor of the Cathedral and rector of the Padre Félix Varela Cultural Center.
This is one of the projects that demonstrates the Catholic Church’s interest in consciously participating in Education in Cuba, not only to instill in children human values, but Christians, which do not contrast with the development and formation of virtuous people.
The invitation of the Archbishop of Havana and Father Yosvany Carvajal to the families of the little ones, was to continue what was learned in the Nursery, to instill in their children to be good friends, educated and supportive people, lend to doing good and open to the Grace of God. “If you want to have a better country, continue to cultivate these values in them,” the pastor of the Cathedral said.
On behalf of families, two young parents described the path traveled with their children during this stage: “a path of love and dedication; now it’s our turn to continue it.” For her part, the mother thanked the educators for knowing how to combine educational rigor with childish joy to train more creative and spontaneous children, “for teaching our children not to think big, but to be bigger.”
