“A grandfather is like an angel that God commands us from heaven to take care of all evil,” with these words that brought out more than one tear among those present, Sister Iyala described the gratitude to those who do so much for the lives of their grandchildren. In this spirit of love, it was held in the Educational Workshops of the Immaculate, a cultural gala on the occasion of Grandparents Day.
The celebration, which corroborated the family atmosphere that characterizes this unique educational project, began with a play starring children and teenagers from the workshop. This was followed by the performance, by the boys of guitar students, of the liked song “Chan Chan”, by Compay Segundo.
With the auditorium on the move, the dance workshop performed another Cuban music classic, “Mi Sombrero de Yarey”. This was followed by Sister Aida, with the decclaiming of the poem “Balada de los Abuelos”, by Nicolás Guillén.
The closing of the event was in charge of the harmonic choir of the University of Havana, led by Professor Damaris, who has been animated by a children’s singing workshop in the center for several years. With absolute happiness, the grandparents and grandmothers present in the theater applauded their grandchildren, in a true demonstration of Christian spirituality, drawn in Love.
