In recent days, the Prime Minister himself acknowledged to the media that many of the measures recently taken in the face of the pandemic are, in addition to obvious government analysis, at the request of the people.

We are aware of the vulnerability we all have in the face of this pandemic, but this must not prevent us from being able to live these difficult times.

Abruptly, the coronavirus is beginning to change our customs, our lightheartedness, the way we act in the public sphere; how we communicate, exchange, dialogue, on a social level, even in confined spaces, in the circle of friends.

As part of the VII Week of Sacred Music (SMS) and during the Parish Choir Meeting, held at the Church of the Holy Angel Custodian and coordinated by Ramón Leyva, the teacher and choir director of the Catholic Church in Cuba, Ada Rabelo, received recognition for her sacred musical work in the Archdiocese of Havana.

This Friday took place in the Church of St. Francis of Asses, located in the historic center of the city, the sixth concert of Sacred Music Week, this time dedicated to the monoliths of the German Baroque.

Let us not give in to the fear it divides in the face of the current spread of coronavirus. It is more regrettable, as some see more strongly today, the ‘virus’ of narcissistic individualism, reflecting the culture of “my first thing”, which is crumbling our social coexistence. We are not alone: this is the message of hope that as Christians we are called to spread these days. With an open heart full of faith we pray, “Lord, your love is eternal, do not abandon the work of your hands!” (cf. Psalm 138,8).

This Sunday began the seventh edition of Sacred Music Week, organized by the Chair of Sacred Music of the Padre Félix Varela Cultural Center and the Institute of Sacred Music and Musical Pedagogy of Regensburg (Hochschule f’r katholische Kirchenmusik und Musikp-dogik HfKM, Regensburg).
