Between 12 and 14 October, the 5th local edition of the interreligious meeting “Prayer for Peace” took place. As on other occasions the Community of Sant’Egidio hosted the event in the House of Peace and Dialogue of the Plaza de Bethlehem.
The meeting proposed a dialogue between men and women of different cultures and religions present on the island. On the first day the Symposium Puentes de Paz, Religiones and Cultures was developed in Dialogue, where the panel composed of MsC. Maydi Estrada, assistant professor at the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the University of Havana and Bishop Giorgio Lingua, Apostolic Nuncio in Cuba, exposed the dreams and challenges of those working for peace and coexistence of people and religions.

This edition was inserted into the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Community. It was attended by members of the accredited diplomatic corps in Cuba, government officials, international guests and representatives of different religions. The event that concluded with a cultural gala at the Teatro Martí meant, in the words of Dr. Rolando Garrido, national manager of Sant’Egidio: a meeting that contributes to the construction of bridges of peace and friendship in a globalized and complex world.
