En el marco de la sexta jornada de apoyo a las personas con discapacidad y sus familias tuvo lugar, en el Centro Cultural P. Félix Varela, la conferencia sobre diversas temáticas para aquellos que sufren algún Trastorno del Espectro Autista (TEA).
Conferencias sobre sexualidad, legalidad, síntomas y diagnóstico en estos pacientes posibilitaron a todos los que se acercaron al Aula Magna, del otrora Colegio San José, tener una visión más amplia y sensibilizarse con estos niños y adolescentes.
Preocupantes sobre el futuro de estos pequeños y su aceptación e inserción social fueron expuestas por familiares a los especialistas. Las doctoras Mabel Whilby y Leyanis Ramos, ambas psiquiatras del Hospital Pediátrico del Cerro, expusieron la situación actual para el sistema de salud nacional de estos pacientes y las perspectivas de trabajo a largo plazo.
Estas actividades que se realizan durante varios días cada año, coincidiendo siempre con el 21 de marzo, día internacional del Síndrome Down, y con el 2 de abril, día internacional de concienciación del autismo, forman parte del programa “Aprendiendo a Crecer” de Cáritas Habana que este año celebra su cuarto de siglo.
