La Asociación de Escritores de la Unión de Escritores y Artistas de Cuba, efectuó en la tarde de este 14 de septiembre, la gala de premiación del concurso UNEAC, correspondiente al año 2018. Desde su origen en el año 1965, este premio en su fructífero recorrido se ha erigido como uno de los más prestigiosos del país. No ha quedado una generación, una tendencia, un movimiento literario, un momento de nuestras letras, que no haya dejado su registro en el certamen.
Con la actuación de grupo de teatro Mimoclán, que interpretó textos de la poeta Georgina Herrera, dio inicio el acto de premiación al que asistieron los miembros del jurado y varios de los concursantes. En esta edición fueron convocados tres géneros: poesía, ensayo y biografía y se presentaron 43 originales.
La doctora Ivette Fuentes de la Paz, directora de la revista Vivarium y de la cátedra de estudios homónima, en el Centro Cultural Padre Félix Varela, recibió el Premio de Ensayo Enrique José Varona, que le fuera entregado en la sala Martínez Villena.
El jurado decidió otorgarle ese prestigioso lauro al ensayo El rango de la luz en la poesía cubana. Tangencias, enlaces, figuras emblemáticas, título de la tesis de grado científico con que obtuvo —en 2016— su segundo doctorado en la hispana universidad de Salamanca.
La doctora Fuentes de la Paz es, además, investigadora titular (jubilada) del Instituto de Literatura y Lingüística José Antonio Portuondo Valdor, profesora titular de la Universidad de las Artes (ISA), y del Instituto Superior de Estudios Eclesiásticos Padre Félix Varela, especialista en teoría y estética de la danza de la revista Cuba en el Ballet (Ballet Nacional de Cuba), y además, investigadora adjunta del Museo Nacional de la Danza y del ISA.
Es miembro ilustre de la Asociación de Escritores de la UNEAC, del Consejo Internacional de la Danza (CID-UNESCO). Ha participado en eventos nacionales e internacionales, donde ha representado cum dignitate a la República de Cuba y le han sido otorgadas disímiles distinciones, tanto en el país como en el exterior.
Es autora de libros y ensayos, publicados en el territorio nacional y fuera de las fronteras geográficas insulares.
