We thank all those who make this radio broadcast possible, today Sunday, August 1, the 18th Sunday of ordinary liturgical time. Today we hear in all the churches the Gospel of John, chapter 6, verses 24 to 35.

(Gospel)

Every day we pray the Our Father prayer that Jesus Christ himself taught us. In this prayer we say: Give us today our daily bread. Yes, the food we need to live with health and strength for the work of daily life, both obligations to society and in our home. We have already experienced how pleasant it is to eat together. From the necessary food arises a family love and with those we invite. We feed our body and the love of sharing together bathes our person, our family and our invited friends. From the material bread shared each day, love arises.

The Lord invites us to get not only food for our bodies, but also to work for the food that lasts for eternal life, the bread from heaven.

What is the bread of heaven and of eternal life? The same Lord Jesus who tells us: I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me will not be hungry and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty.

The Lord Jesus shows us this bread in his Word, in Holy Scripture, the Bible.

This Bread of the Word of God that is to know and taste love, when we listen to this bread of the Word we get to know it, we know of his life of fidelity to God the Father: Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. We accept what God wants for us which will always be a will to make us happy here and now and later in eternal life.

By enjoying the Bread of the Word, we are getting to know the kingdom of heaven, a kingdom of peace, harmony, union, reconciliation, forgiveness, and we learn that in that queen, the husband and wife, parents, are one person and one heart. and children, grandparents and grandchildren, daughters-in-law and mothers-in-law, sons-in-law and in-laws, offenders and offended.

This bread of the Word teaches us the path of Christ, the path that He traveled first and that we must walk in love.

How will we walk down that path so beautiful and so difficult, so extraordinary and so impossible?

Not with our own strength, but with the bread of life, which is the Body and Blood of Christ, yes, when we receive Christ in the bread and wine consecrated in communion, we can say like Saint Paul: I live, but not I, it is Christ who lives in me. And if Christ lives in me, we will never tire of doing good, loving, serving, enduring suffering in peace, forgiving, helping those who do not have the love and strength to move forward.

With the bread of life we will live the condition of children of God, brothers of all, and we will teach that Christ is the one who gives meaning to life with his wonders and his difficulties. If you do not have the new testament, ask the Archdiocese, telephone 78624000. If you have not made your first communion, approach the priest of your parish and ask for this wish of yours.

Lord, always give us your bread.

(Song)

-Lord Jesus Christ, you who announced yourself in the manna of the desert, nourish and strengthen the way of the Israelites, feed us with the bread from heaven.

Lord, always give us your bread.

-You, Jesus Christ, who are the living Bread come down from heaven.

Lord, always give us your bread.

-You, Jesus Christ, bread of angels made bread for men.

Lord, always give us your bread.

– You, Jesus Christ, who have become the bread of eternal life.

Lord, always give us your bread.

– You, Jesus Christ, bread that contains all the flavors of love.

Lord, always give us your bread.

– You, Jesus Christ, who feed us on the way to heaven.

Lord, always give us your bread.

– You, Jesus Christ, bread that give us eternal life by eating your body.

Lord, always give us your bread.

– You, Jesus Christ, who in the form of bread are always in the tabernacle.

Lord, always give us your bread.

– You, Jesus Christ, who unite us in one family by feeding us on your bread.

Lord, always give us your bread.

– You, Jesus Christ, who with your bread make us servants of material and spiritual food.

Lord, always give us your bread.

– You, Jesus Christ, who are the sure bread of eternal life.

Lord, always give us your bread.

(Song)

Next Wednesday, August 4, we celebrate the day of the Pastor, a priest who serves in our communities, on the feast of Saint John Mary Vianney, priest, patron of parish priests and priests.

Saint John Mary Vianney was born near Lyon, France, in the year 1786. He had to overcome many difficulties to finally become ordained a priest. The parish of Ars, in the diocese of Belley, was entrusted to him, and the saint, with active preaching, sacrifice, prayer, and charity, governed it and admirably promoted his spiritual advancement. He was endowed with extraordinary qualities as a confessor, which caused the faithful to come to him from everywhere, to listen to his holy advice. He died in 1859 and he accompanies us from heaven. We read one of his catechesis:

Consider it, my children, the treasure of the Christian man is not on earth, but in heaven, for this reason our thinking must always be oriented towards where our treasure is. Man has a beautiful duty and obligation: to pray and love. If you pray and love, you will have found happiness in this world.
