The usual silence of the Cultural Center Fr. Félix Varela, was interrupted this afternoon by about 500 young people, from different places of the archdiocese of Havana who, full of joy for their encounter with Christ, gathered to begin from today the National Youth Day (JNJ), under the motto: “Behold the servant of the Lord, be made in me according to your word”.

During the accreditation the young people received the pilgrim’s kit and were able to purchase a mobile application with all the necessary information for pilgrims who will live the experience until the next day 4. One of them is Rosario Campos who stated that “he fundamentally hopes that we will know each young people of the capital better and be able to return more united to our communities to give life to this experience so uplifting and I aspire that this event will help us to take the Cuban Church to the existential peripheries as Pope Francis says so that we do not be left alone with memories , but let us share what has lived around us all, something typical of the evangelization to which we are called.”

In the evening was held the welcome and opening party that had as a main course, the words of Msgr. Juan García, Archbishop of Havana. The prelado spoke to young pilgrims about the importance of “putting all dreams, at the feet of the Virgin Mary or Cachita as we like to say to Cubans”.

Music and dance were extended for a few hours to celebrate as a young church the joy of the Risen Christ who was thanked at the end of the night for the opportunity to share during these days in fraternity.
