En la mañana de este sábado 3 de marzo en el jardín del Santuario Nacional de San Lázaro se bendijo una nueva capilla dedicada a la imagen de Lázaro, “pobre, viejo y con muletas”.
Ante la presencia de peregrinos, algunos sacerdotes y religiosas, S.E. Giorgio Lingua, Nuncio Apostólico de Su Santidad en Cuba, realizó la bendición de esta bella y pequeña capilla que al decir del Pbro. Elixander Torres Pérez, rector del Santuario, “…desea ser un monumento a la Fe, a la hermandad, a la reconciliación…”.
Estuvo también presente y de manera especial Mons. Suárez Polcari quien fuera rector de esa santa casa por doce años, desde 1984 hasta 1996 y bajo cuya rectoría fuera denominada “Santuario Nacional”.
Esta capilla fue especialmente construida por todos aquellos fieles devotos de San Lázaro que viven fuera de nuestra amada Patria y para que, como dijera el rector, “… al venir desde lejos nuestros hermanos, como peregrinos a este santuario vean la bendita imagen de San Lázaro que les recibe con los brazos abiertos…”.
