With the motto “Always act with all Justice”, the Fifth Edition of the Ecumenical Festival was held on March 5th, in the Havana headquarters of the Community of Sant’Egidio. Activities like this make the idea of Christian unity cease to be a dream, to become a way of life within the daily making of our communities.

As an example of authentic ecumenical culture very in tune with the current context, in her prayer, Pastor Liudmila Hernández of the Presbyterian Church of Centro Habana asked God for peace among all the nations and religions of the world.

Also during the gala, a particularly acclaimed event was the presentation of the Psycho-ballet, a project that has as protagonists children and young people with Down Syndrome and other special abilities. Equally well received for its colorful and evangelizing joy, it was the choir of African students, attached to the Baptist Church.

Among those present at the event was Father Ariel Suarez, who is responsible for the Cuban Episcopal Conference for the attention to the ecumenical sector. The Festival is the realization of the repeated desire of several High Pontiffs to achieve the unity of Christ’s followers, expressed by St. John Paul II in his Encyclical Ut unum sint and on which Pope Francis has called for the construction among good men and women of true social friendship.
