The young pilgrims of the National Youth Day (JNJ) receive catechesis in six different Churches of the archdiocese.

The night of the second day of the Habanera version of National Youth Day (JNJ) culminated in the prayer of the viacrucis.

They receive missionary shipments and carry out a mission in slums of the Community of Centro Habana, the young people of JNJ Habana.

The usual silence of the Cultural Center Fr. Félix Varela, was interrupted this afternoon by about 500 young people, from different places of the archdiocese of Havana who, full of joy for their encounter with Christ, gathered to begin from today the National Youth Day (JNJ), under the motto: “Behold the servant of the Lord, be made in me according to your word”.

Cardinal Jaime Ortega, clad in his ecclesiastical attire, was veiled in Havana Cathedral for three days. After the Mass of exequias, the coffin was led to the Pantheon of Bishops, in the Necropolis of Columbus.

At the present-body mass he officiated on the morning of July 28, Father Yosvani Carvajal Sureda, parish priest of Havana Cathedral and rector of the Padre Félix Varela Cultural Center, conmemored his nineteenth years of priestly ordination, which he received by laying on the hands of the late Cardinal Jaime Ortega.

The funeral masses for the death of Cardinal Jaime Ortega continued on the morning of this Sunday, July 28 with that presided over by Msgr. Ramón Suárez Polcari, chancellor of the Archdiocese of Havana.

At the last Mass of the second day of funeral honors dedicated to Cardinal Jaime Ortega, Msgr. Alvaro Julio Beyra Luarca emphasized the trust that Christians must have in God’s help and recommended following the example of the late cardinal.
